New roadheader for miners in Ukraine

Novokramatorsky Mashinostroitelny Zavod is preparing for shipment to customers – mine named in honor of Space Heroes and Dneprovskaya (PJSC “DTEK Pavlogradugol”) two roadheaders of the new П110-03 model with the longitudinal-axial cutting crown.

Miners of PJSC DTEK Pavlogradugol duly appreciated the sinking equipment of NKMZ. Since 2017 the Novokramatorsk employees have supplied to them 21 roadheaders of the П110 serial model, which has two transverse cutting crowns. This roadheader is highly popular with miners in Ukraine and the CIS countries. It belongs to the lightest series and is used for the treatment of mine faces with rock hardness up to 100 MPa.

The П110-03 roadheader with the longitudinal-axial cutting crown was designed and manufactured by NKMZ at the request of the miners of PJSC DTEK Pavlogradugol especially for local mines with small cross sections of roadway. It is smaller and can be used in workings with the cross section of 7-25 m2. This roadheader differs from the serial П110 by a new operating member, which consists of the longitudinal-axial cutting crown, parallel shaft-type gearbox and a frame. This operating member and the operating members of other roadheaders of the П110 series are completely interchangeable.

The design of the new roadheader was developed by the specialists of the bureau of roadheaders and sinking equipment of the design-engineering department of NKMZ metallurgical and sinking equipment production division under the leadership of the head of the bureau Evgeny Klimenko. Leading designer of the project – Maxim Churikanov. Roadheaders were manufactured in machine-assembly shops No. 12, No. 6 and in workshop No. 16.

The range of cooperation between NKMZ and PJSC DTEK Pavlogradugol is expanding. Its new direction is the performance of capital repairs by the Novokramatorsk employees of the П110 serial roadheaders that have exhausted their service life, previously supplied to the mines of the joint-stock company. In March the documentation required for this was issued for production.

Product range of NKMZ mills is extending

Mills have long been the most popular product range items of the Novokramatorsky Mashinostroitelny zavod. They are in high demand among mining companies, since they always confirm the declared technological and operational performance. Mills under NKMZ trademark are featured with high quality and reliability and equipped with up-to-date control systems. These are state-of-the-art mills.

Over the three previous years, the company has shipped 106 mills with a total weight of 23,300 tons to its customers. Among them are ball mills with central charging and ball mills with a grate discharge (mill shell diameter is 2700-5500 mm); wet autogenous grinding mills and wet semi-autogenous grinding mills (shell diameter 7-9.5 m). It should be noted that mills of all these types are equally in demand on the market. Among the new products related to mineral-processing equipment embraced by NKMZ are drum pelletizers with a drum diameter of 4 m and a length of 11 m. They are used in the production of iron ore pellets.

The most popular among those shipped last year were МШЦ-5500х7500 ball mills with central discharge. Nine such mills were dispatched by NKMZ to the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Plant (Republic of Uzbekistan).

Mr. Yevgeny Vovnenko (the head of the grinding and power engineering equipment bureau at the department of the chief designer of mining and forging-pressing equipment of NKMZ) spoke about two mills of new design produced last year.

“The first and the largest of those previously manufactured at NKMZ is ММПС-7750х6060 wet semi-autogenous grinding mill,” – says Evgeny Nikolaevich. – It also has the most powerful drive from those previously used for mills – 5750 kW. The design capacity of this mill is 600 t / h, but already today it performs 800 t / h, while the amount of electricity it consumes has not yet approached 80% of the design value. The miners are completely satisfied with its work. Now the specialists of our bureau are designing the second such mill.

Another mill of a new design is МШЦ-3600х6000 БЦ a journal free ball mill with a central discharge. If mills of a traditional design, when installed on a foundation, are rested on the journals of the end walls, then this new mill has no journals, and the end walls are integrated into the shell body and executed as its continuation. It is installed on the same foundations and rests directly on the shell body. Accordingly, such a mill is extended, has a 50% larger volume, and the volume of the material to be ground in it doubles. The miners are interested in purchasing journal free mills with a larger shell diameter”.

The map of supply of NKMZ mills is quite extensive: Ukraine (North, South, Central, Ingulets, Poltava GOKs (Mining and Processing Plants)), Mongolia, Bulgaria, CIS countries.

This year NKMZ has already shipped eight mills to mining companies.

Electric workshop of NKMZ JSC performed in a new role

For the first time, three new sectors for the 1200-1500 mm inductor of the hardening plant ТПЧ-1500 of the press-forging workshop heat treatment area No. 1 were manufactured in the electric workshop of the Novokramatorsky Mashinostroitelny Zavod.

Previously, they only repaired old inductors for hardening plants.

As Sergei Seregin, the foreman of the ТПЧ heat treaters of the heat treatment area No. 1 said, the installation of new assembly units is ongoing.

“This order is unusual for us,” says Vitaly Bashtovoy, electric workshop manager of NKMZ JSC. – “Over the past fifteen years, we have manufactured new equipment assemblies for the first time. Before starting this work, our specialists visited the enterprises that manufacture such inductors and decided that we would cope with this work.

The most difficult thing was to make an inductor coil from a rectangular shaped copper pipe, since its bending is performed according to a special pattern. All parts for the inductor were manufactured at NKMZ – in the workshop for special-purpose tools and in workshop No.16, and the electric workshop assembled them.

The work was carried out by a team of electric fitters (foreman Vadim Kosik) under the guidance of chief foreman Alexander Melnik. We can say that a new stage has begun in the life of our workshop. Today, new inductors with diameters of 630, 450, 660, 540 and 250 mm are on the way to assembly.”

Central plant laboratory of NKMZ PJSC has been accredited

After successful auditing in September last year, on January 26 the Central plant laboratory of Novokramatorsky Mashinostroitelny Zavod was accredited by the National Accreditation Agency of Ukraine (NAAU).

NAAU, in the laboratory’s accreditation certificate, confirmed its competence in accordance with the requirements of the DSTU ISO / IEC 17025: 2017 standard in the field of testing and control in manufacturing castings from structural unalloyed steel, alloy steel and steel with special features, forgings from structural carbon and alloy steel, welding joints; in the field of non-destructive testing; physical-mechanical, physical-chemical and metallographic tests, as well as hardness tests.

The Central plant laboratory of NKMZ PJSC already had the approval certification document confirming its competence, which was issued by the main certification authority of Ukraine. But in 2015, the Law of Ukraine “On Metrology” annulled the term “certification of laboratories” itself, and today the authorities that carried out this certification do not exist.

Instead of the term “certification”, this Law introduced the term of a higher level – accreditation. As a result, Ukraine switched to the international standard DSTU ISO / IEC17025: 2017, which is a regulatory document specifying the requirements to the competence of testing and calibration laboratories, and which implies their accreditation. Confirmation as a result of accreditation of the laboratory’s compliance with the requirements of this standard means that it has both technical competence and functioning quality management system, which allows it to obtain technically based results of measurements. Today, an accredited laboratory that meets this standard of competence has a higher status than the previous certified laboratory.

The National Accreditation Agency of Ukraine, which has accredited the CPL of NKMZ PJSC is the only authority in our country that makes the assessment of test calibration laboratories for compliance with the international standard DSTU ISO / IEC17025: 2017. The agency’s credibility is confirmed by its full membership in ILAC, an international organization for laboratory accreditation, which activities are aimed at improving the quality and reliance in tests performed by laboratories, in conformity assessments and personnel qualifications.

The main result of accreditation of the Central plant laboratory of NKMZ PJSC is the international recognition of the reports of its tests, thanks to the corresponding agreement signed between NAAU and ILAC. And now there is no need to subject NKMZ products to repeated tests in the countries where this certificate of CPL accreditation is acknowledged.
